Como documenta el an\u00e1lisis de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteryuniversity.com\/article\/bu-310-how-does-cobalt-work-in-li-ion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" style=\"color:#991b1b!important;font-weight:600\">Battery University sobre el rol del cobalto en las bater\u00edas de litio-ion<\/a>, la dependencia de este mineral presenta m\u00faltiples riesgos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Concentraci\u00f3n geopol\u00edtica:<\/strong> Seg\u00fan la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/global-critical-minerals-outlook-2025\/beyond-nmc-batteries-supply-chain-issues-for-emerging-battery-technologies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" style=\"color:#991b1b!important;font-weight:600\">IEA en su Outlook 2025 de minerales cr\u00edticos<\/a>, China controla m\u00e1s del 75% de la capacidad de refinamiento de cobalto y n\u00edquel para bater\u00edas NMC a nivel global.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Miner\u00eda artesanal:<\/strong> Una parte significativa del cobalto congole\u00f1o proviene de miner\u00eda artesanal (ASM) con documentados abusos laborales y trabajo infantil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Volatilidad de precio:<\/strong> El cobalto lleg\u00f3 a USD 95.000 por tonelada en 2018 y cay\u00f3 a USD 25.000 en 2023. Esa volatilidad impacta directamente el costo de los EV.<\/li>\n<li><strong>La respuesta de la industria:<\/strong> Toyota, Tesla y Volkswagen firmaron compromisos de trazabilidad de cobalto con proveedores auditados. Cuando Elon Musk decidi\u00f3 usarlas en el Tesla Roadster en 2008, tom\u00f3 miles de esas celdas est\u00e1ndar y las organiz\u00f3 en m\u00f3dulos refrigerados por un sistema de gesti\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica propio. Era una apuesta arriesgada \u2014 nadie hab\u00eda escalado ese formato a potencia automotriz \u2014 pero result\u00f3 en la bater\u00eda m\u00e1s potente del mercado en ese momento. El Tesla Model S original (2012) usaba 7.104 celdas 18650 de NMC\/NCA. Ese dise\u00f1o estableci\u00f3 el est\u00e1ndar de lo que hoy conocemos como &#8220;bater\u00eda de veh\u00edculo el\u00e9ctrico de alta performance&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nmc-note\">\n<strong>&#128204; \u00bfQu\u00e9 significa NMC para el mercado argentino actual?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Para quien maneja un auto a nafta o di\u00e9sel en C\u00f3rdoba, la bater\u00eda NMC no impacta hoy de forma directa \u2014 los autos con NMC en Argentina son modelos premium importados con precios que arrancan en USD 45.000. Pero el mercado de reposici\u00f3n del futuro s\u00ed involucra NMC: los Tesla Model 3 y los BMW iX importados que ya circulan en Argentina necesitar\u00e1n reemplazar sus bater\u00edas de tracci\u00f3n en 8\u201312 a\u00f1os.
