Toyota eligi\u00f3 NiMH por tres razones: (1) el Li-ion de la \u00e9poca ten\u00eda problemas de seguridad ante impactos \u2014 un accidente de auto pod\u00eda provocar ignici\u00f3n; (2) no hab\u00eda volumen de producci\u00f3n suficiente para abastecer miles de veh\u00edculos por mes; (3) el BMS necesario para gestionar el litio en forma segura a 200V+ no era econ\u00f3micamente viable. La NiMH, en cambio, ten\u00eda d\u00e9cadas de historial en aplicaciones industriales y era intr\u00ednsecamente m\u00e1s estable. La decisi\u00f3n prob\u00f3 ser correcta: ning\u00fan Prius NiMH se incendi\u00f3 por falla de bater\u00eda en m\u00e1s de 25 a\u00f1os de producci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nmh-note\">\n<strong>&#128204; Reemplazo de bater\u00eda NiMH en h\u00edbridos: qu\u00e9 sabemos del mercado argentino<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En Argentina, los Toyota Prius Gen II y Gen III (2004\u20132015) son los h\u00edbridos m\u00e1s comunes. El reemplazo del paquete NiMH original tiene dos opciones: (1) m\u00f3dulo nuevo original Toyota (~USD 3.000\u20134.500 seg\u00fan el a\u00f1o) o (2) reconstrucci\u00f3n del paquete reemplazando solo los m\u00f3dulos defectuosos (~USD 800\u20131.500). Seg\u00fan los datos publicados por el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acara.org.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ACARA (Asociaci\u00f3n de Concesionarios de Automotores de la Rep\u00fablica Argentina)<\/a>, el parque de h\u00edbridos en el pa\u00eds supera las 15.000 unidades \u2014 un mercado de reposici\u00f3n que crece a\u00f1o a a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nmh-curiosity\">\n<strong>&#128200; Dato curioso \u2014 la alta autodescarga de la NiMH y c\u00f3mo compensarla<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Una bater\u00eda NiMH pierde entre el 20% y el 30% de su carga en el primer mes sin uso, y otro 3\u20135% por mes despu\u00e9s. En los veh\u00edculos h\u00edbridos, esto se gestiona mediante el BMS que mantiene el estado de carga entre el 40% y el 80% (nunca al 100% ni al 0%), lo que maximiza la vida \u00fatil del paquete. En aplicaciones no automotrices (c\u00e1maras, herramientas), la recomendaci\u00f3n es guardar las celdas con un 50% de carga aproximado y cargarlas completamente antes de usar si estuvieron almacenadas m\u00e1s de 2 semanas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nmh-links\">\n<h3>&#128279;
